This was my first camping adventure at the blue mountains. We started at a car park that was next to the six foot track and parked our car there. Then we could hike down the six foot track to cox river campground.
Along the way there were beautiful scenary of the blue mountain cliffs from behind and bush/rainforest infront.
We were not very careful following the six foot track and took a little detor along a road that entered private property. The path was clearly marked but we must have been looking the opposite direction at the time and didn't see the six foot track sign. Lucky we had our handheld GPS(Garmin 60Csx) with us otherwise we could have been real lost. Actually the gps was useful in many situation as the track does go into other small tracks and it can be confusing to know which way to go. I recommend to take one with you if you do go down this track. The track is clearly marked but if you like me and like to soak in the scenary you may miss a turn.
About 3/4 of the way to cox river campground ground the was a swing bridge to cross. I had never been across one of these before and it was a little scarey the whole way along the bridge. But it was safe to cross.
It took us about 2.5 hours to get to cox river campground. Once we got there we had to set up camp quickly and find firewood as night was approaching quickly.
There was a nice river flowing next to the creek. The water looked clear and fresh. There was a toilet, tank water and some places to light a fire. Next to the river was sand where we could pitch our tent.
The best thing about the campspot is that we were the only ones there. We had the whole campsite to ourselves for the whole night. It was so peaceful.
The night got pretty chilly thought. I was using a sleeping bag rated at 6 degrees + long pants and a jumper and I was just warm enough.
In the morning we cooked up a fankfurt on a hot rock. Check out the picture. Frankfurt was very tasty! nice an cripy on the outside and soft on the inside.
On the way home we stopped in a rock pool for a swim. Really really cold water, but it was refreshing.
